5 Tips For Staying Hydrated Inside & Out

Oct 26, 2022

Winter is here and it’s cold outside. One thing everyone knows is that staying hydrated is an inside job. Heavy creams and rosewater facial sprays may feel amazing, but even the best of them have their limits on the colder, crispier winter days. In addition to filling up your water bottle a few times a day, here are a few unexpected ways to stay looking and feeling refreshed:

1. 7 foods that will hydrate you

When it comes to staying hydrated, not all foods are created equal. Some foods like proteins help you build muscles. Others, like water-rich fruits and vegetables help you hydrate. For example, foods like strawberries, cucumbers, broccoli, tomatoes, watermelon, kiwi, and apples, have gel water locked inside of them. In gel form, the water is released more gradually into your body, so you get more benefits from the food’s nutritional and hydrating properties.

2. Avoid dehydrating drinks

On the same note, to dial up your internal moisture levels you’ll want to avoid foods and drinks that dehydrate you. Of course, one of the biggest moisture zappers is alcohol—a diuretic that can make you urinate more frequently, draining your internal water supply. If you drink, remember to drink a glass of water with every alcoholic beverage. Other dehydrating culprits are foods and drinks high in sodium and sugar. Watch out for the processed foods that hide high levels or salt and sugar like soy sauce, fries, fruit snacks and even instant oatmeal!

3. Take Hyaluronic Acid supplements

To help take lubrication to the next level take a look at Hyaluronic acid oral supplements. This “water-loving” molecule is found abundantly in joints, skin and connective tissue and plays a critical role in lubrication.

4. Consider Collagen

Another unexpected way to hydrate is by adding Collagen Powder to your daily routine. Collagen is the “glue” that binds us together within the skin, joints, bones, blood vessels and organs. As we age collagen breaks down and diminishes. Two new studies published by Skin Pharmacology and Physiology find a daily regimen of a new type of collagen supplement improves skin elasticity and reduces wrinkles around the eyes by 20 percent after just eight weeks. These studies, however, focus on a new type of ingestible collagen peptide that is more bioavailable—meaning, it’s more easily absorbed by the body.

5. Staying hydrated with milk or orange juice

Not all liquids are created equal. There’s new research that suggests drinking milk or orange juice might actually help you hydrate better than plain water. This is because they contain nutrients and electrolytes like sodium and potassium, that slow the kidneys response to produce urine.
